Since we have spend more time at home the past year, I wondered more and more about what feeling home really is. Is it the place where you have all your own stuff? Or the place where you can sleep, eat and shower? Or is it the feeling your house gives you when you come home? What is ‘feeling home’ really is to me?

In the past I’ve moved a lot between different houses and countries, and maybe that is the reason why I could always make myself feel at home easily. And by feeling home I mean feeling comfortable to do my thing and sleep.

I observed my own home, and focused on the glimpses that I liked about my house. The small things that decorated the place, things that show my interest, things I’ve collected. Do these things make my home ‘my home’?

I think that by decorating your home can influence how you feel inside of it. It is in someway a reflection of your own interests, and by showcasing it in your home you show your visitors a glimpse of who you are as a person. These things do make me more comfortable being home, because I'm surrounded by my own things, and indirectly by myself.

To me, home is where you can dream, think, rest or do completely nothing. It's a place where you can wander off into your own world and be in reality at the same time.

But in the end, I think the most important part of feeling home is that you feel comfortable enough to not always be perfect. Where you can leave your mess for a while when you don't feel like it.

Home is where you don't feel the need to impress anyone, and where you can just be you.
